Section 1: Introduction > Installation

Installing Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)

MDAC 2.6 or higher must be installed for database connectivity. If you are installing on Windows 95 or 98 then MDAC is not installed as part of the operating system and must always be installed. When you first run At Your Service – Repair Centre, the installed version of MDAC is verified and if it is less than 2.6 you will be prompted to install it.

Close all applications that are running and insert the At Your Service installation disc into your CD drive. If the At Your Service program installer starts then cancel it before continuing. Select Run from the Windows Start menu (at the left side of the Windows taskbar). Type in one of the following, depending on the version of MDAC that you wish to install (replace D: with the letter of your CD drive if different) and click the OK button.

For MDAC 2.6 service pack 2, type “D:\mdac26\mdac_typ.exe

For MDAC 2.7 service pack 1, type “D:\mdac27\mdac_typ.exe

For MDAC 2.8 service pack 1, type “D:\mdac28\mdac_typ.exe

Follow the directions on the screen and accept all default values when prompted. If the install program needs to update system files then it may prompt you to restart your computer.

Optionally, you may choose to download and install MDAC from Microsoft’s web site at msdn.microsoft.com/data/ref/mdac/downloads.
